Data Exchange process automation

I implemented secured, reliable, and scalable data exchange mechanisms for a Build to Print supplier.

The project aimed to automate information flow, secure data handling, and harness business intelligence from exchanged files.

Challenges Faced:

  • Automating the exchange of diverse data formats (CAD 3D models, 2D plans, BOM) with OEMs.
  • Developing a secure and efficient batch process using SFTP communication for automated data package retrieval.
  • Extracting business intelligence from the received files to enable accurate order forecasts and predictability.
  • Creating scripts to segregate and organize data from different formats, ensuring secure storage.
  • Implementing a Gap analysis process to track daily changes and notify teams about any deviations.
  • Ensuring integration with existing workflows and systems.

Lessons Learned:

The project highlighted the need for standardized communication protocols, middleware solutions and file transfer mechanisms. Overall production costs have been reduced.

ERP Software Integration

I have led an end-to end ERP integration project from solutions benchmarking, specification, deployment and ongoing operations.

The project aimed to adjust business processes using ERP native functionalities, and therefore ensure manufacturing ramp-up.

Challenges Faced:

  • Integrating a new ERP solution to replace existing systems and enable holistic business management.
  • Enabling access to Bill of Materials (BOM) information within the ERP for comprehensive visibility and decision-making.
  • Implementing seamless information flow from / to the CAD and ERP softwares through Rest API.
  • Establishing a robust change tracking mechanism with notifications.
  • Enabling supplier collaboration through up-to-date Request for Quotation (RFQ) and CRM synchronisation.
  • Planning maintenance activities while notifying clients.

Lessons Learned:

The end to end CAD / ERP integration aims at accelerating product innovation and overall efficiency of the ERP end-users.

Application Software

PLM Legacy Application replacement and retirement

The “Move to Cloud” initiative was a transformative project focused on transitioning a legacy PLM application. 

The project involved a thorough investigation using the 6R methodology (Rehost, Refactor, Revise, Rebuild, Replace, or Retire) to determine the best transition approach.

Challenges Faced:

  • Identifying the optimal transition strategy among the 6R options.
  • Implementing a new Cloud infrastructure, including databases and servers, to support the new PLM application.
  • Designing mechanisms for data migration from the legacy infrastructure to the Cloud environment.
  • Establishing replication and redundancy mechanisms to ensure high availability.
  • Addressing Identity and Access Management (IAM) concerns to secure authentication and authorization for all users during migration.
  • Retire the legacy application while ensuring minimal disruption to users.

Lessons Learned:

The PLM application retirement and associated transition were highly facilitated by a proactive communication to end-users.

IT Infrastructure Rationalization

I have contributed to IT resources project optimization, across diverse applications distributed in 3 countries.

The project encompassed obsolescence challenges, resource computation, functional coverage analysis, and batch workflows.

Challenges Faced:

  • Addressing obsolescence of legacy systems while maintaining uninterrupted operations.
  • Functional analysis of the applications landscape to identify overlaps and consolidation opportunities.
  • Description of user workflows for different regions and countries.
  • Virtual Machines monitoring to prevent performance degradation, especially during batch processing.
  • Coordination with infrastructure and application stakeholders to secure planning adherence.

Lessons Learned:

The project underscored the importance of strategic planning, stakeholder collaboration, and precise resource management.
